Today, I'm watching The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. I have to read the subtitles. It's in Japanese.

Considering the audience of anime like this, I believe most people watch it this way!

And I'm not talking about the Japanese audience...

I never knew why Haruhi fans got so worked up over the dub, i thought it was alright, definitely not bad.

I'd watch the movie again in english.

I only watched a few dub episodes, but I for one preferred them to the whiney sounding Japanese version.

You haven't watched the original series have you? How did you like the movie? I enjoyed it enough to buy it on DVD.

I'm generally fine with the Japanese dub, but the BIG difference for me is Mikuru's voice, which becomes tolerable in English compared to the AHHH SO PATHETIC AND INCAPABLE MOE nonsense in Japanese.

By whiney I meant that character  It's just one voice, but it makes me rage.

Chihayafuru is so adorable and warm. I got my girlfriend into it and we agree that the things that makes the show so likable and different are the semi-realistic characters and charming atmosphere. It really is like a sweet J-drama. Another big bonus is the great soundtrack.

In the end I'm watching Mawaru Penguindrum, Chihayafuru, Mirai Nikki (that show is a lot of fun), and Un-Go (second episode was great and the mystery was way better. Not to be all ultra annoying liberal :P but I love the powerful anti-censorship message.)

Haha for me if there was a complaint on the dub over the sub it was Mikuru's voice. I do prefer it in japanese enough to single it out lol.

Double post?

Anyway i marathoned Demon King Daimao on Netflix and that was one terrible terrible show. The show was mediocre itself, the dub was horrid, the animation was fair for the most part and got pretty dang good for some of the fights that were also not bad overall. But they definitely couldn't save the show at all. Do not recommend to anyone really. Not even for boobs.

Will say i did laugh a bit in the early episodes with the monitor agent chick.

Haven't watched much anime recently. Went through a random episode from the second season of Shinryaku Ika-musume. It was the one where practically everyone but Eiko can speak some semblance of English. That was brilliant. I'm also glad they got a native speaker of English to do Cindy's English lines. That made it so much more fun. Yeah...now I know that the show is probably set on the Shonan Kaigan area in Kanagawa prefecture. The part where Ika-musume ends up in Atami (or somewhere like that) was nuts!

I finally did it. I finished the series that had been in my backlog for the very longest. Genesis Climber Mospeada. I got it in the double pack with Southern Cross, which I watched more or less right away, no idea why I delayed on Mospeada for so long.
Of all the Robotech seasons, New Generation is the most identical to its original counterpart, so I didn't really get much new, but it's still a solid "go to point A to destroy thing B" sort of band of rebels show and I still really enjoyed it! But not only is the story pretty much the same, but characters personalities are the same too, if anything, Annie/Mint might be more annoying in Japanese (whereas Dana/Jeanne was less annoying in Japanese) and everyone else is pretty much the same. One thing I really liked though was that Yellow/Lancer was actually given two seiyuus in the Japanese so it wasn't painfully obvious he was a male from the first time he opened his mouth in ep 3 like it was in Robotech.
I do think that sub timings on the ADV set I got could sometimes be a bit off, they either appeared a fraction of a second too late or they didn't last long enough. They also sometimes wouldn't sub Annie/Mint when, I presume, she was making nonsense noises, but it's hard for me to know that for sure. It wasn't enough to not enjoy the show though and the sets did have some extras.
Basically, if you have Robotech, you don't really need to watch Mospeada, but if you enjoyed New Generation a lot, it's definitely worth checking out Mospeada. If you've never seen either and like the team dynamic, go for Mospeada anyway (or Robotech, it's cheaper)

Saw the latest episode of Working'!! and as usual it's a great episode. Yamada's brother seems like he'll be an interesting addition to the show.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I haven't been online here much of late.

No...I haven't watched the original series. I was watching the movie streamed onto my iPod Touch from a website. I think the series is up there too, but haven't had much a chance to go back and look.

I'm slowly getting around to watching anime. Checked out the first episode of Chihayafuru. It looks like it's going to be pretty melo-melo. Hankies are on stand-by. ;)

Watched Working!! 7, Ika Musume 6 and Hunter x hunter (6 or 7) today.

First time in a week I watched anything anime related. Recently I've been interested in simply browsing the internet, FiM or Skyrim and just haven't been in any frame of mood to watch anime. Was odd, as about a month ago I was burning through stuff.

Mawaru Penguindrum made me misty eyed with this new episode. It's getting rather dark and romantic. Ikuhara sure knows how to toy with my emotions.

Watched some anime today for the first time in a week.

Episode 6 of Ben-to (I'm behind on everything). After initially thinking it'd be a crazy fun show I came to realize what it is I don't like. It seems to take itself far too serious, plays itself far too straight. I don't even think it has too much of a comedic edge, merely using tropes/cliches rather then poking fun at them.

Episode 2-5 of Mirai Nikki. It's been a so-so season so this will probably be my most favourite.

Guilty Crown has kinda become the trashy show I was hoping for. It's a more competent and eye-pleasing Code Geass for me.

Un-Go has improved over seven episodes, but I'm still not sold on the war angle: the show brandies a lot of potential effects of living in a post-war period, but never really stays with them (perhaps a consequence of its episodic structure). I also think your opinion on Inga really impacts how much you take to the show (I'm pretty put off by his/her antics).

I'm pretty emotionally distanced by Penguindrum, even though it's my favorite series of the year. All of the repetitions (I never want to hear the word "unmei" ever again once this show's over) and abstract scenes to convey emotional turmoil or triumph holds me back from really investing more in the characters. There's been a lot of nice surprises, though, and to my knowledge this is the first anime to directly reference the sarin gas attacks in 1995.

Only three episodes into the new Last Exile series, but I'm enjoying it so far.
